DOMESTIC ABUSE IN SAME SEX RELATIONSHIPS
Much work and research has been done of late in the field of domestic abuse, particularly between heterosexual couples. However, little has been done in relation to same sex couples where domestic abuse is an issue. This may be partly due to the lack of recognition and acceptance of a same sex partnership by society but also due to victims not recognising or accepting that domestic abuse is happening.
Norfolk Constabulary together with other leading criminal justice agencies including Crown Prosecution Service are committed to taking positive action to combat domestic abuse which includes abuse within same sex relationships.
Anyone who may believe they are in an abusive same sex relationship and are concerned about their safety or well-being if they either remain in the relationship or in the event of leaving can talk in confidence to a Gay Liaison Officer by phoning Norfolk Constabulary on 0845 456 4567.
